How My Rockbottom Became a Revolution

ree

This article was featured in the November edition of SheIsMe Global Digital Magazine, marking the beginning of a transformative chapter in my career, life, and wealth journey! 🚀 Today, I am beyond excited to share this milestone with my incredible audience right here!

If you’ve ever felt icky about money… unsure about investing… or like, “Yeah, I can earn, I’m not afraid of hard work… but where the hell does it all go?” You are not alone.

Heading into my 40s, I noticed the conversations around me shifting. It was all:

“Better buy that second property.”

“I can’t afford that once-in-a-lifetime trip.”

“Wow, things are expensive.” (Guilty of that last one, I said it on autopilot for years.)

And underneath all of it? So many women (no matter what stage of life) still feel ashamed of their financial situation. Silent about money struggles. Still carrying the belief: “Maybe wealth just isn’t for people like me.”

We’ve been fed beliefs like: “Money is hard.” “Rich people are rude.” “Women aren’t good with numbers.” “It’s too late.”

Maybe you’re living paycheck to paycheck. Maybe that emergency credit card is your current buffer. Maybe your biggest goal is just to get by.

And if that’s you, I need you to know: You are not behind. You are not broken. And you are certainly not alone.

In 2022, I was a single woman living in Vancouver, Canada. Surrounded by wealth. Dreaming big. Yet, financially stuck.

I’ve always believed proximity is power, and I was trying to get close to the energy of expansion. So, I started asking myself: What would financial freedom look like for me? Could I build wealth without burning out? Is there a system where women like me could thrive?

Then, during COVID, I watched my Vancouver friends travelling, working from anywhere, and somehow thriving in a world that felt shut down. They were living the life I had only ever dreamed about. And I remember thinking: I want that.

They weren’t just lucky; they were investing in crypto. Not pushing product, just sharing their affiliate link to the training program that helped fund their freedom-based lifestyle. No sales pitch. Just real results…and it got my attention. So I signed up. $2.5K for the training, a big yes from me, because if it worked for them… I believed it could work for me, too. The motto was simple: “Set it and forget it. Do nothing.”

But once I got inside the training? It felt way over my head, technical. Built for analytical brains, not intuitive ones. I closed the tab and stayed in the same spot. Financially STUCK.

A few months later, another friend invited me to a different crypto webinar. This time? Way simpler. Just: Put your money to work. See returns. Withdraw whenever.

I messaged her and said, “It sounds too good to be true.” She replied, “Yeah, it kinda does, doesn’t it :)” With zero pressure to join. And still, I didn’t move. Then I watched her live her best life and also travel the world while DeFi was funding it. And I sat in fear for another 6 months.

It wasn’t just crypto that scared me. It was my entire money belief system. I come from a working-class background. We survived; we didn’t build legacies. I inherited beliefs like: “Wealth is for other people.” “Be grateful and don’t ask for more.” “Work hard, and the rest will work itself out.” And how many times did I hear: “Ugh, the mail’s here, probably just more bills.” (Hello, Law of Attraction? That’s how you train your nervous system to expect lack.)

But here’s the thing: What if those stories you inherited about money… were never really yours? And what if you’re the one in your family line meant to rewrite them?

That realization awakened something in me. Money trauma is generational. It’s inherited. But it doesn’t have to be passed down.

I stopped hiding from my bank balance. I told myself, whatever I spend while living my best life in Vancouver, I’ll make back x3. I journaled every belief I’d absorbed about wealth, success, and lack. I leaned into my vision, even before it made sense on paper. I told myself, One day I will be totally free.

Financially Sovereign. Wealthy. Impactful.

But here's the thing no one tells you: the journey to financial freedom isn’t linear. You can declare a new standard, do the inner work, claim your worth and still find yourself facing moments that bring you to your knees. That doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re human. It means you’re in it. For me, the real test came just when I thought I was finally turning a corner.

Nearly two years after I invested in that training, which I never used, I finally opened the damn thing again. It was 2023, and something in me just said, try again. So I did.
This time with a different frequency. I had no idea what I was doing. I wasn’t a tech expert. I didn’t have a finance degree. I wasn’t glued to the charts or running numbers all day, but I took the risk and did it anyway.

But… plot twist. Before things got better, they got much worse. By 2024, everything had changed. I was now a single mum, recovering from a traumatic birth. I was back home in Australia, earning $0 and living in survival mode on my parents’ couch. My days blurred, my nervous system shattered. My confidence, non-existent. There were no vision boards or morning routines. Just the voice in my head that kept whispering: “Just get by. Just make ends meet, get out of here, and you can rebuild later.”

And while I was “doing nothing” deep in that postpartum fog, I logged in and realized my trading bots had stopped trading. My credit card had expired on the third-party platform I was using to host them. All that time, I thought something was working for me in the background, but it wasn’t.

It all felt too hard. I was exhausted. Hormonal. Grieving the version of myself I thought I was going to become.

I questioned everything. But somehow, even in the darkness, I knew it wasn’t over. I had already learned the cost of inaction. I’d already watched what waiting too long can do. So this time, I made a different choice. Before anything else came my way, I got radically honest with myself.

Because I knew I couldn’t stay there.

And I want to invite you to do the same:

Mini Practice (yes, right now):

Ask yourself:

🔹 What number would give me freedom?

🔹 What number would change my life?

🔹What would that level of wealth allow me to be, do, and create?

Write it down.

Not the “realistic” number. The one that scares you just enough to feel like truth.

Because when I did this, when I got clear and courageous with my vision, that’s when the third crypto opportunity came.

Now, it wasn’t all bad news. Even when I didn’t fully understand what I was doing, when my bots had accidentally closed and I didn’t realize it, the market was booming in early 2025, and somehow, despite the setbacks, I had nearly 4X’d my original investment.

That moment changed everything. Because for the first time in my life, I saw what was possible when money didn’t depend on trading my time, energy, or wellbeing.

For the first time in years, I felt powerful again. Like I could exhale.

By mid-2025, crypto came back into my world in a completely new way. It felt feminine. Intuitive. Strategic. It met me where I was. This wasn’t just trading anymore; this was about Web3, decentralized finance, blockchain, long-term strategy, and sovereignty.

I started asking bigger questions:

What if I could 10X this?

What if I could 100X it?

What if miracles really do happen, but only when we finally stop playing small?

Because this time, I didn’t just see what was possible for me. I saw what was possible for every woman like me.

At the same time, I found SheIsMe, and I pitched her the idea for a new branch of the movement.
